Zest For Life

Zest for Life

Pull yourself towards yourself, get your self together, settle down, and pay attention. All these statements allude to one particular aspect of the human condition, Focus or the lack thereof.

Focus is simply the ability to harness your energy and direct it in a unified and complete manner. Easier said than done and we are paying a heavy price because of not doing. The price we are paying manifests in states of exhaustion, feeling overwhelmed, depleted, de-motivated, uninspired, lethargic, apathetic and drained. These negative states take a massive toll on the quality of our lives.

On the flip side the benefits of learning to focus or directing your energy consistently and continuously are numerous:

Naturally abundant energy and vitality lead to:

Relationships instantly improving because we become more attuned to other people

Our mental capacity improves making us quicker and more creative

We become naturally more positive and happier

Our physical health improves because we have less tension and handle stress better.

Ultimately, personal and professional success become a bi-product of these respective changes in state and enhanced ability to generate and direct your energy effectively.

WHO MOVED MY ENERGY???

August 21, 2011
And what is a man without energy? Nothing - nothing at all. - Mark Twain

Who moved my Energy?

When last were you filled with boundless energy, where you overflowed with inspiration and inexhaustible vigor and vitality. Chances are it’s a very long time ago. Yes, there have been intermittent moments of energy spikes brought on by certain environments, people or situations; like falling in love or beginning a new job. These peak energetic moments are short-lived and always ...

Are you Ready for A Black Swan Event?

June 20, 2011

A Black Swan as defined by author Nassim Taleb is an event with three attributes:

• It is an outlier, as it lies outside the realm of regular expectations, because nothing in the past can convincingly

point to its possibility.

• It carries an extreme impact.

• In spite of its outlier status, human nature makes us concoct explanations for its occurrence after the fact, making it explainable and predictable.

In our highly volatile world with its spreading, multi-fa...

The Buddha Teaches a Lesson on Forgiveness

May 17, 2011
The Buddha was sitting under a tree talking to his disciples when a man came and spit on his face. He wiped it off, and he asked the man, “What next? What do you want to say next?” The man was a little puzzled because he himself never expected that when you spit on somebody’s face, he will ask, “What next?” He had no such experience in his past. He had insulted people and they had become angry and they had reacted. Or if they were cowards and weaklings, they had smiled, trying to br...

Tao Te Ching-verse 57

April 13, 2011

if you want to be a great leader
you must learn to follow the tao
stop trying to control
let go of fixed plans and concepts
and the world will govern itself

the more prohibitions you have
the less virtuous people will be
the more weapons you have
the less secure people will be
the more subsidies you have
the less self-reliant people will be

therefore the master says:
i let go of the law
and people become honest
i let go of economics
and people become prosperous
i let go of r...

Creating Success in Uncertain Times

March 21, 2011

Creating Success in Uncertain Times

There seems to be a degree of upheaval taking place that is unparalleled in human history. Politically, geologically, socially, morally, economically and climatically we are experiencing flux and disturbance that are leaving human beings overwhelmed, distraught, depressed, anxious, angry, numb, unbalanced and more uncertain than they have ever been. If this level of agitation has not adversely affected you, you have either been in a coma or...

The Parable of Two Wolves

August 29, 2010
This is a favourite old parable which I often repeat to groups I'm working with to emphasize the power of creating our own realities.

The Parable of Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson
about a battle that goes on inside all people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two
wolves that dwell inside each and everyone of us.

“One is Evil.
It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed,
arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority,
lies, false pride, superiori...

“Ke Nako” It’s Time For FIRE™

June 21, 2010

Being totally entranced by the soccer spectacular engulfing the country and the world I started watching the matches not only from the perspective of a soccer lover but also from that of an ontological coach.

What separates the top performers from the also rans?

Why do some teams consistently outperform others?

Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Spain, Italy have been at the top of the heap most often, Why?

What optimum state would these individual players need to access to perfo...
