Student Leadership Development Programmes

Our present mainstream education system is not producing the calibre of learner South Africa requires to take us into the future. The system is failing and has been failing for some time. Learners coming out of the system seem ill prepared, poorly equipped and under skilled for what lies ahead.  In short we are not producing enough exceptional individuals who become the exceptional leaders of tomorrow.

The SOAR Institute has developed a leadership programme that begins to fill the gap for these learners and becomes the springboard to a new way of being.    

A more aware individual is a more responsible and honest individual.

By raising individual and collective awareness the learner will begin to take responsibility for:

  • Their own well being

  • The wellbeing of their society/community

  • The well being of the environment

 The leadership program is designed to raise the learner’s levels of self-awareness, collective responsibility and societal participation. This will enable them to engage this new awareness in practical situations where learning through experience and immersion occurs.

Each theme, concept and module directly relates to what makes us aware, responsible, self-determining and civic-minded leaders of society.

Programme Outcomes

Each Learner will develop:

  • New awareness of themselves and their potential and the tools to fulfil these.

  • A deeper understanding of society and their roles in it.

  • A more profound understanding of what it means to be responsible not only for the self but also for the collective.

  • Stronger technical leadership skills in public speaking, dialogue, effective communication, speech writing, debating and project management.

  • Higher self-esteem, confidence and self-belief.
